Turning Geospatial Data Into a Single Source of Truth for Heathgate Resources.
The Challenge
Heathgate Resources required a more accessible and scalable way to manage and visualise growing volumes of geospatial data. Existing workflows relied on desktop GIS tools, limiting access to 3D data across sites and creating bottlenecks for non-specialist users who needed rapid insights from the field.

The Solution
NGIS deployed a browser-based 3D mapping platform using SkylineGlobe Fusion, hosted in Heathgate’s Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment.
The solution provides a single, secure point of access to terrain, imagery, vector data, and 3D models. By leveraging Google Cloud Storage (GCS) and a Content Delivery Network (CDN), the platform ensures high-performance data streaming via secure, signed URLs, protecting sensitive site data while remaining accessible via standard web browsers across offices and remote mine sites.
What we delivered
- Rapid Cloud Deployment: Full deployment of SkylineGlobe Fusion and supporting components in under 10 days of consulting effort.
- Secure Access Management: SSL-enabled browser access with granular, layer-level user permissions.
- Time-Series Drone Image Viewer: A custom interface providing clustered, chronological access to high-frequency drone imagery, allowing users to “step back in time” to audit site changes.
- Sensor-Driven Diagnostics: Integration of imagery with onsite sensor data, enabling remote teams to visually investigate hardware alerts or environmental shifts.
- Vehicle Tracking (Pilot): Near real-time fleet visibility via telematics integration.
- Capability Enablement: A four-day onsite workshop and hands-on training to ensure internal teams can manage and scale the platform.

The Outcome
- Centralised 3D Single Point of Truth: An operational geospatial platform accessible business-wide, eliminating data silos.
- Enhanced Root-Cause Analysis: The ability to visually trace the history of a site asset (such as containment infrastructure) through automated drone timelines to determine exactly when and why a sensor alert was triggered.
- High-Performance Architecture: Secure, rapid delivery of complex spatial data using GCP infrastructure.
- Established Internal Capability: Heathgate is now equipped to manage, extend, and scale the platform independently.
The Impact
Heathgate Resources has successfully transitioned from a desktop-centric GIS approach to a scalable, web-based 3D environment. This shift has not only improved data accessibility but has also empowered the team to conduct rapid remote investigations, reducing the need for physical site visits and providing a robust foundation for future geospatial innovation.
NGIS have been instrumental in helping Heathgate make our geospatial data more accessible and useful across the business. Their team quickly understood our operational needs and delivered a practical, scalable solution in a very short timeframe. By helping us bring different data sources together in one accessible environment, they have significantly improved the value of our information and made it easier for our staff to understand site conditions, asset history and operational change over time. Their proactive, professional and collaborative support has been greatly appreciated and has provided Heathgate with a strong foundation for future geospatial innovation.
