Unveiling our Inaugural Impact Report: Building a Better Future Together

,

We are thrilled to unveil our first Impact Report, showcasing our commitment to making a positive impact in everything we do. We’re proud to share with you the initiatives we’ve undertaken to solve some of the most pressing global issues. Join us as we celebrate our achievements and highlight impact through geospatial.

Key Achievements:

  • Bridging the Digital Gap for Indigenous Peoples: Recognised as the Telstra Business of the Year 2023 and recipient of the Indigenous Excellence award, Winyama, an Indigenous-owned geospatial company, has been instrumental in empowering First Nations communities to participate in the digital economy through culturally appropriate teaching and technology integration.
  • Eliminating Deforestation: Partnering with Google, NGIS developed TraceMark, a sustainable sourcing platform that offers companies global-scale first-mile monitoring to address regulatory compliance challenges and provide insights into raw material sourcing and environmental impacts.
  • Protecting Giant Kelp Forests: Facing significant threats due to ocean warming, Australia’s kelp forests have experienced a 95% loss in eastern Tasmania. In response, NGIS collaborated with key players, including The Nature Conservancy and Google, to launch the Giant Kelp Forest Restoration Partnership, aimed at restoring and conserving these vital ecosystems.
  • Sustainable Fashion: NGIS contributed to the development of the Materials Impact Explorer tool, launched at the Textile Exchange Conference. The tool empowers fashion brands to make sustainable sourcing decisions and reduce the industry’s greenhouse gas impact at the raw material stage.
  • Vanuatu Climate Futures: In collaboration with Frontier SI, CSIRO, and other partners, NGIS developed the Vanuatu Climate Futures Portal to provide climate information services and support resilience-building efforts in Pacific Island nations facing escalating climate change impacts.
