How Abu Dhabi is using AI-Data to reduce traffic Congestion
NGIS was engaged by the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) to implement the Google traffic service TraceMark™ Flow.
TraceMark™ Flow by NGIS is a next-generation traffic monitoringproduct designed for public sector organizations.
The Challenge
Congestion costs economies billions of dollars a year. Traditional methods for combating congestion are slow, costly and lack scalability. Abu Dhabi Mobility was looking to provide accurate and actionable traffic monitoring insights using new big data from Google, from a regional sustainability point of view down to a specific road link. All while integrating with their existing business systems.
The NGIS Approach
Utilizing Google Maps and next-generation Google Cloud AI and data analytics, TraceMark™ Flow enables Abu Dhabi Mobility to visualize, analyze and integrate Google real-time traffic information for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. For operations and planning teams, Flow includes a Web Dashboard for mapping, insights and reporting, and a Data Access API for integration with core business systems.
The TraceMark™ Flow solution enabled Abu Dhabi Mobility to rapidly increase traffic monitoring coverage by 10x and reduce reporting time for key transport corridors from weeks to minutes. The Web Dashboard is used within the Operations Centre, delivering direct insights from Google’s AI-driven traffic data and alerting operators to unusual congestion and journey time unreliability events.
Through TraceMark™ Flow and Google’s AI-powered traffic analytics, Abu Dhabi Mobility expanded its transport monitoring coverage 10x and reduced analysis time from weeks to minutes, advancing its goal of building an efficient, data-driven urban mobility system
