Tailored Training
To hit the right balance, NGIS trainer Dion Fleming collaborated closely with the client to design a two-day program that blended ArcGIS Pro Foundations modules with new content tailored to the client’s own datasets, templates, and geospatial workflows.
- Day 1 focused on establishing a consistent baseline knowledge using NGIS’s standard core chapters and training data.
- Day 2 shifted into tailored, step-by-step exercises inside the client’s own GIS Enterprise environment, making the learning immediately relevant and directly applicable to real-world tasks.
A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Customisation Process
Customising the course required a deep dive into how the client works day-to-day. Dion worked closely with the client to understand their internal processes, data structures, and operational challenges. He translated these insights into practical exercises that mirrored actual workflows, something that online training simply cannot replicate.
“Customising the course allowed us to focus on datasets and workflows that are familiar to the client’s team, all while working inside their own enterprise environment. This meant that the course content was readily understood and immediately impactful on their day-to-day work.” says Dion.
Delivered across two on-site sessions for 15 participants, the training took place in a familiar environment, which supported open discussion and hands-on learning. Having Dion there in person made the sessions easier and more personalised, giving participants immediate guidance as they worked through each activity.
