Key duties and responsibilities
The NGIS Business Analyst will help with the successful delivery of client projects, acting as a bridge between the client and delivery team. This role requires the ability to quickly understand business processes across a diverse range of industries, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate client needs into actionable requirements. More than a Project Manager but requiring some project coordination and reporting, the Business Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that project delivery teams understand what our customers need, customers have a reliable go-to when considering their requirements, and our projects are delivered effectively.
Main responsibilities include:
- Leading NGIS project delivery teams in day-to-day delivery tasks.
- Working closely with clients to understand their business needs, challenges, and goals. Facilitating workshops, meetings, and interviews to gather and document detailed requirements.
- Refining and ensuring adherence to a way of working that suits the objectives of the team, the customer, the business, and focuses on delivery of prioritised and validated customer value.
- Documenting requirements in the form of specification documents or agile work items to ensure the required work can be accurately planned and delivered by the team.
- Providing reporting on key delivery metrics including burndown, velocity, team health and benefits realisation.
- Engaging customers during discovery and delivery to iterate ideas and backlog items
- Identifying opportunities for growth.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements both within the project and across the client’s organisation. Providing insights and recommendations for enhancing business processes and project outcomes.
Objective and Goals
This role is critical in the success of NGIS’ product businesses, primarily TraceMark. It is a foundational role expected to drive the continuous improvement of the product delivery team and adapt methodologies and approaches to suit the evolution of the team.
Success in this role will include
- Driving a shared vision for the product across NGIS
- Sustained improvement in cycle time (reduce days), benefit realisation (increase $) and customer satisfaction (increase NPS)
- Improvement in the quality of the delivered product, including errors, incidents, and outages
- Good team health indicators
Required qualifications, experience and skills
Qualifications
- Tertiary education in business, IT, or a related discipline
- A masters degree or relevant certification (e.g. PMP, CBAP) is desirable
Experience
- Previous experience as a Business Analyst, Project Manager, Product Owner, or similar role for 3-5 years
- Experience in a customer facing environment is essential
- Experience in a consulting environment is desirable
- Relevant industry experience in transport, agriculture, resources, ESG, or utilities is highly desirable
Skills
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
- Excellent time-management and planning
- Working knowledge of design tools such as Figma, or experience working with UX designs
- In-depth knowledge of work item or backlog tracking tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira
