Use satellites to measure biomass

Green Precision

Using the power of Google Earth Engine, farmers can view their crops in season and compare them on a monthly basis, across years to see if their crops are tracking well. NDVI (Normalised Difference Vegetation Index) imagery arms farmers with the information they need to make informed decisions about their nutrient applications and more.

Green Precision is a joint project between NGIS and CSBP Limited that showcases what can be done using high performing Google Cloud infrastructure and NASA satellite data. The tool can show biomass for any location in the world, down to a 30 metre resolution.
