NGIS celebrates 25 years of mapping

There was nothing but laughter, memories, Gilligan’s Island-themed jingles and good company to share as clients, friends, family and colleagues converged on the Oyster Bar in Elizabeth Quay last Friday night to celebrate 25 years of mapping for NGIS.

The important milestone marks the beginning of the company in 1993, which has since gone on to grow its team, introduce new office locations, win a multitude of industry awards, work with a diverse group of technology providers and increase its client base in both Perth and Sydney.

Darren Harris led the formalities for the evening, introducing Wayne Hiller from CSBP and Jen Thomson from Fortescue Metals Group to share their stories and experiences of working with the NGIS team and seeing it grow over the years. Guests were treated to 25 year-old scotch whisky and grandfather port to toast the occasion, and a memorable sing-a-long from Jen Thomson inspired by Gilligan’s Island.

Richard Bentley, NGIS Executive Director, reflected on the journey NGIS has undertaken with regard to the company ethos and culture over the 19 years he has been on board.

“It is the passion, the support and the framework we have for our people that I believe makes NGIS a success. It is also the families we thank, because we understand how important their support is to our company framework,” he said.

Managing Director, Paul Farrell, also emphasised the importance of family and friendship networks in order to help make the NGIS venture a true success. He explained how the importance of these strong support networks transcends to the relationships NGIS builds with their clients.

“A Western Australian company hasn’t taken on what NGIS have undertaken without the backing of the people here in WA, we have established client relationships that mean when there is a problem, we work it out together and that has always been the case. Without your support we wouldn’t be here,” he said.
