Stafford is a GIS Analyst at NGIS and is working primarily on projects relating to heritage and land management. He has provided GIS support to projects including the Indigenous Ranger Program in the Kimberley, and carbon farming projects where he assisted with satellite imagery-based land cover change in the rangelands using machine learning.
Stafford’s first degree was in archaeology and has worked on diverse projects including aerial photography of ancient Roman sites in the Middle East, to Indigenous rock art in East Kimberley and North America. More recently, Stafford completed a Graduate Diploma in Geographic Information Intelligence, focusing on geospatial programming.
